Mayor John Ditslear has appointed Steve Cooke to serve as the new deputy mayor for the City of Noblesville. Cooke, who will begin his new role on Monday, April 4, replaces Christy Langley, who was recently hired as the new director of planning and transportation for the City of Bloomington.

“Steve is a sharp, personable man that will bring fresh new ideas to the role of deputy mayor. Coming from a strategic communications firm provides him with a different perspective and he has a strong background in communication which is an essential portion of the job,” Ditslear said.

Cooke was previously vice president of Bose Public Affairs Group, a government relations and strategic communications firm in Indianapolis. He led communication teams for numerous public affairs initiatives related to health care, public safety, and mass transit, and looks forward to bringing that experience to Noblesville where he has lived since 2001.

“I’m incredibly honored for this opportunity to work alongside Mayor Ditslear, his leadership team, and the city while serving my community and its citizens. This is an exciting time for Noblesville, and I look forward to contributing all that I can to carry this vision forward,” said Cooke.

He brings extensive communications experience from a wide variety of industries, including health care, real estate, professional services, manufacturing, and telecommunications.

Born in Flint, Michigan, Cooke is a graduate of Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications, and a graduate of Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis with a master’s degree in public relations management.

Currently, Cooke serves on the Hamilton County Transit Forum and Film Indy advisory board. In his free time, he coaches youth soccer through Noblesville United Soccer Club and volunteers for Conner Prairie and Noblesville Schools.

He is married to Marnie Cooke and they have two daughters, ages 11 and 7.
