Embrace Downtown: Modern Infrastructure to Support Local Business and Community Growth

With thriving local businesses, historic charm, and gathering spaces for events, downtown Noblesville is the heart of our community and a key component of our local economy.

Downtown Noblesville is a destination for residents and visitors alike, making it an important area to preserve and enhance for future generations. The Embrace Downtown project is designed to honor and maintain what already makes downtown special while making necessary infrastructure upgrades, improving pedestrian safety, and adding beautification elements.

Why Now is the Time to Rebuild the Foundation of Downtown

While downtown is known for its historic charm, it also has historic infrastructure. Noblesville has experienced significant growth since the most recent major downtown infrastructure improvements 35 years ago, and strategic improvements are necessary to ensure downtown continues to thrive.

Modern Infrastructure that Supports Business Growth

Embrace Downtown will modernize the aging storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems to support environmental sustainability, and over 100-year-old water main and service lines will be replaced. Upgrading public infrastructure will protect historic buildings, reduce future disruptions, and create a reliable foundation for business expansion, while also providing better access to restaurants, shops, cultural destinations, and community events.

“This project is about building a strong foundation for downtown’s future while creating spaces where people want to gather, shop, and spend more time,” said Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen.

Improving Downtown with You in Mind

The Embrace Downtown project was designed with our community in mind. Whether you’re a resident, visitor, or business owner, improvements to our downtown will benefit you. Widened and reconstructed sidewalks will improve accessibility for everyone, include bike parking, and will create a traffic-calmed environment that encourages more foot traffic to local businesses. The project will also provide additional space for community gatherings, events, and outdoor dining.

The elements that make downtown special today will be thoughtfully incorporated into the project. Recently installed light fixtures will be relocated throughout downtown, and star bricks will be integrated into street signs, tree grates, and manhole covers.

Investing in the Future of Downtown

The project schedule has been designed to minimize impact on businesses, which will remain accessible during construction.

Embrace Downtown will play an important role in supporting small businesses and welcoming visitors to support a long-term, thriving economy in Noblesville. Visit www.EmbraceDowntownNoblesville.com to learn more about the project schedule and follow the project on X and Facebook.
